Our History |
|
Formed in 1971 by Marion Tracy, the Delaware Ballet has performed numerous classical ballets such as; Coppelia, Swan Lake, Beauty and the Beast, and Cinderella. In addition, the annual Nutcracker has been presented for over thirty years. The versatile troupe of dancers graces the stage throughout the state of Delaware in over twenty performances per year. Some of these must see performances are the Delaware Dance Festival, guest appearances at various Dover Downs Festivals, entertainment for preliminary Miss Delaware pageants, and the Delaware Ballet’s annual spring production. Notably, the Delaware Ballet is known for its efforts in outreach programs. This includes assemblies at local schools, visits to nursing homes, community functions, and children’s performances of The Nutcracker at Delaware State University. The Delaware Ballet was a dream come true for Marion Tracy. She worked very hard over the years to see that the company would continue to grow and give dancers the opportunity to perform famous ballets and, if they so desired, a chance to become a professional dancer. Because of Marion, our state has a ballet company to be proud of, and our children have a chance to perform with the best. Marion Tracy’s dedication to the arts , the children and all we dream about , will never leave us.
